Monthly Book Hunt
|
welcome teachers and students!
This contest was created to promote literature with today’s youth and to utilize school and public libraries. by Encouraging your students to participate, you can win a FREE book for your classroom library every month. There is no fee to enter, just follow the guidelines below.
WHO CAN ENTER:
Any full-time teacher with students PreK-12 enrolled in a public or charter school in the United States of America.
FREQUENCY:
This contest takes place once a month while school is in session. It begins on the first day of the month, and the drawing takes place on the last day of the month. The winner will be posted on this blog within a week of the drawing. Students may enter only once per month. The more students that enter, the better chance your class has of winning. There will be no drawing during the months of June, July, and August. Eligible months are September - May.
PRIZE:
Each month a student’s entry will be drawn at random. The teacher of the winning entry will choose one grade-level book of his/her choice, which will be sent to the classroom. The book should not exceed twenty dollars.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Teachers must sign up on my website here. For each month of entry, include your NAME, SCHOOL OF EMPLOYMENT, SCHOOL ADDRESS, GRADE(S) AND CLASSES YOU TEACH (if high school), and a LIST of students participating.
This contest will send students on a search for a book with a particular theme. The theme changes month to month, so check the blog on the first of the month. Students comment below the current month’s contest. They will enter their NAME, TITLE OF BOOK, AUTHOR, ILLUSTRATOR, and one page that highlights the theme either in words or text. I encourage teachers to allow younger students to interact with the blog with your assistance. Any student entry that does not show up on their teacher’s list will be disqualified.
I hope this experience leads you and your students on wonderful adventures to the libraries in your area. GOOD LUCK!!
This is a new contest, so if there are any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
