Thanks for checking out the cover of my newest picture book, ANZU AND THE ART OF FRIENDSHIP! There probably aren't many who haven't struggled with friendships at one time or another. This book explores the frustration of making friends and the art of origami. My friendship challenges were twofold. First, I moved on average every year and a half during my elementary school years, and I was extremely shy. I laugh, looking through old report cards. There's usually a note by the teacher about my bashfulness. Here are a few examples!
I spent the most of my youth in Japan, where I attended school on a military base in Iwakuni, a city just south of Hiroshima. My memories of origami take me back to folding with my sisters at home or on long journeys to see family. It is an activity that can be enjoyed alone or in a group. Origami offers peaceful moments of togetherness. I hope you enjoy this book with your kids, in the classroom, or as a gift! Thanks for stopping by!
